Tokai LS-186-EF 70th Anniversary celebrates the seventieth anniversary of Tokai’s traditional, high quality guitar craftsmanship. This one-off instrument handcrafted in Japan features a full thickness one-piece mahogany body with a gorgeous flamed maple top, one-piece mahogany neck with a traditional deep join and a rosewood fingerboard.
The LS-186-EF is equipped with Seymour Duncan ’59 Model humbuckers, selected to accompany this particular instrument’s tonewoods and character.
Duncan’s 59 Model neck pickups is a vintage-voiced, extremely versatile neck pickup that pairs well with most bridge humbuckers. It’s designed in the spirit of the original P.A.F. humbuckers of the 1950s, with sweet sustain, full-sounding chords, clear and bright attack, but we’ve made a few refinements to slightly modernize the design and make it more adaptable to different styles.
The 59 Model bridge is great for all types of rock and blues. Duncan designed these vintage style coils to give it an airy quality that keep this pickup planted firmly in the P.A.F. family. The alnico 5 bar magnet, and vacuum wax potting have been added to compensate for lighter guitar strings and louder amplifiers than were ever used in the 50s. The result is a pickup with tons of old-school tonal character, but with a brighter top end, and a more compressed sound.
This beautiful guitar also features custom prestige inlays, white body bindings, chrome hardware and a Lemon Drop color with gloss lacquer finish.
The guitar comes in a Tokai Deluxe hard case with a certificate of authenticity.
